“You Picked a Battle Beyond Your Strength” – Nyesom Wike Fires Back at Seyi Makinde in Escalating Political Clash

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, of initiating a fight he has no capacity to fight.

Naija News reports that Wike made the declaration at the 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to him.

He called out the Oyo State Governor for alleging that he claimed to be holding the PDP for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

The Minister described the Governor’s comment as unfortunate and misleading.

“It’s unfortunate a fight you cannot fight, you started,” Wike said.

Taking a further swipe at the Oyo State Governor, Wike said politics is different from contract work, adding that politics should not be treated like a business venture.

They are two different things,” Wike said. “You wanted money; I wanted power. Stay where you are as a contractor.”

“Politics is not a contract of Shell. I didn’t go into politics to be a contractor. I went into politics to have power,” Wike declared.

Meanwhile, Wike has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) interested in contesting elective positions in 2027 to put away the fear of losing.

He urged them to confidently contest positions at both state and federal levels, stating that not having governors from the PDP going into the 2027 polls should not deter members from participating in the process, adding that the situation won’t determine the outcome of elections.
