2023 AFCON! Lookman Breaks Jay Jay Okocha, Yekini And Ighalo’s Record After Scoring Against Angola

Prior to his goal against Angola, football legends: Rashidi Yekini, Jay-Jay Okocha and Odion Ighalo were the only three Nigerian players who achieved this feat.

Aside from this, the Super Eagles’ victory over Angola in the AFCON quarter-final match equalled a record held by Egypt in the tournament.

Prior to the game, Egypt was the only country with the most semi-final appearances.

However, after 90 minutes of a tense clash with Angola on Friday, Nigeria broke the record with a vital goal scored by Ademola Lookman.

The victory means it is the 16th time the Super Eagles have qualified for the AFCON semi-final, sitting at the top with Egypt which has the same number.

Reacting to the record, Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s adviser on information said: “Congrats Super Eagles for qualifying for the semi finals of AFCON 2023, with vital goal scored by Ademola Lookman. Nigeria, qualifying for the 16th time, has now equaled Egypt’s record for most semi-final appearances.

“Congrats to Moses Simon, who provided the assist to Lookman and was also crowned Man of the Match. Congrats to Victor Osimhen for continually terrorizing the Angola defence. The goals will come, be rest assured.”....CONTINUE.FULL.READING>>>
