2027: Why my father can never support Atiku

Shamsudeen Mohammed, the son of the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed has said that his father cannot support the presidential ambition of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar.

Shamsudeen said his father cannot publicly throw his support for Atiku who is a two-time presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said this while responding to a post on X, by Abdul-Aziz Abubakar about both Atiku and Governor Mohammed fostering a strong partnership within the PDP ahead of the 2027 election.

Abubakar had in his post, written in Hausa, said that he is hopeful that a bond between Atiku and Governor Mohammed would revive the PDP.

In his response, Shamsudeen, using his handle, @shamsudeen_bala, said such would be difficult.

He further stated that during the 2023 election, the former vice president undermined his father’s influence in Bauchi by mobilising too many bigwigs in the state to back the opposition

He wrote, “Honestly, it would be difficult. Because even if he wins, there’s nothing he would do for us except settle old scores. He didn’t support us in 2023 – he backed the APC candidate and used Bauchi elites to oppose us. We barely survived it.”

According to him, Atiku by his actions already made it clear to Governor Mohammed that he has no regard for him.

“He’s made it clear he doesn’t value us enough to engage in dialogue,” Shamsudeen wrote.
