According to Channels TV, NDLEA officers at Lagos airport arrested 43-year-old make-up artist Adekoya Mary on June 16 for trafficking 2.2kg of cocaine.
She had claimed to be travelling to India for fibroid surgery, but her bag concealed a baggage betrayal, two factory-fitted parcels of the drug.
The suspect’s trip was allegedly bankrolled by a drug baron now on the run, who owns a hotel in Ogun State.
Officers intercepted the luggage just before boarding a flight to India via Doha.
NDLEA also seized over 1 million opioid pills and dismantled drug operations across Abuja, Kano, Edo, and Kwara.
A student and supermarket worker were among others arrested in a nationwide crackdown.
Sometimes a baggage betrayal isn’t just what we pack, it’s the weight of what desperation makes us carry. The suitcase she rolled forward held more than drugs; it held the cost of silence, need, and manipulation.
Have you ever found yourself carrying a baggage betrayal, one that wasn’t yours to begin with?
