Some members of the Coalition of Atiku Support Groups on Friday met with the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje.

Led by Abubakar Malami, the group’s members said they joined the APC to ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

The coalition consists of members of various support groups from 19 northern states who participated in campaigning for former president Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Receiving the groups, Ganduje assured them that they would enjoy the same privileges the got from their former party.

Describing the APC as the most peaceful political party, the former Kano state governor promised that President Tinubu, his vice, Kashim Shettima and other leaders of the party would be present on the day they would be formally received into the ruling party.

Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Malami said the groups have been impressed with Tinubu’s efforts to improve systems across the country.

He said, “To tackle the challenges facing our region, the president has established the North West Development Commission (NWDC) following a bill sponsored by the deputy president of the senate, senator Barau Jibrin.”
