A Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Akinade Adejobi, who is the immediate elder brother of Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has died after battling an undisclosed illness.

SaharaReporters gathered that DCP Akinade Adejobi passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Sources within the force confirmed to SaharaReporters that DCP Adejobi was the elder brother of ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and from the same parents.

One of the sources alleged that Olumuyiwa used his influence to help position Akinade within the Oyo State Command.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command has formally announced and mourned the passing of DCP Adejobi, describing his death as a profound loss to the police force and the communities he served.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the late DCP was praised for his professionalism and commitment throughout his career.

The statement read, “It is with profound sadness that the Oyo State Police Command mourns the passing of Deputy Commissioner of Police Akinade Adejobi, who departed this world in the late hours of Saturday April 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness.

“DCP Akinade Adejobi, who is the senior brother to FPPRO ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, was a dedicated law enforcement officer whose unwavering commitment to duty and service set a standard for all. Throughout his distinguished career, he demonstrated exemplary leadership, fostering collaboration and integrity within the Oyo State Police Command.

“His innovative strategies and focus on community-oriented policing strengthened the trust and bond between the Police Force and the communities they served, ensuring a safer environment for all.”

According to Adewale, “Beyond his professional achievements, DCP Adejobi was a person of great warmth and compassion. He mentored and inspired younger officers, instilling in them the values of responsibility, ethics, and service.

“His approachable demeanor and genuine care for others made him a respected leader and cherished friend to many.

“DCP Adejobi’s sudden death resonates deeply within the Nigeria Police Force and the communities he served and protected. His legacy will continue to inspire current and future generations of police officers, reminding us all of the importance of integrity, dedication, and compassion in our duties. His impact on the community is evident in his work with the Police Mobile Force Squadron at Ago-Are.

“To his family, we extend our deepest condolences. May God grant you the fortitude to bear this immense loss. We hope you find comfort in the cherished memories of DCP Akinade Adejobi and the impact he made during his time with us,” Adewale added.
