Nigerian environmentalist and human rights activist, Ann-Kio Briggs has accused the Sole Administrator of Rivers State Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (retired) of causing more harm than good in the state’s political space.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Briggs said the actions taken by Ibas in River can be likened to pouring petrol on an already existing fire.
She said that the former military General is doing the opposite of what he was sent to Rivers State to do – to quell the political crisis that earlier rocked the state.
“First of all, I can assure you that he is pouring petrol on a fire Mr President believes that was on.
“So, he was told to come and pour water on that fire, to quench it. Well, he has done nothing of the sort, I have told you that he has removed people who were constitutionally and democratically in governance,” Ann-Kio Briggs said.
Briggs added that there were no issues with leaders in key positions in the state when Ibas assumed office.
She said immediately after the Sole Administrator came into office, he removed those loyal to Fubara and appointed Nyesom Wike’s associates.
“There were no issues, and he came along and removed everybody.
“Even in the government house, it is alleged that he has removed the pictures of Siminalayi Fubara. I repeat Siminalayi Fubara remains the governor of Rivers State,” she said.
