The fresh incident happened exactly one week after the 17 military personnel, including senior officers, were laid to rest at National Military Cemetery in Abuja.

It was gathered that Boko Haram terrorists along Biu-Buni Yadi road, Borno State, ambushed the Lt. Col and his men and killed them in a gun battle.
Daily Trust reports say the Boko Haram insurgents ambushed the soldiers at Kamuya, a village close to Buratai, home town of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai (rtd).

A security source said the soldiers paid a supreme price on their way to Damaturu to buy fuel.

I can’t describe the kind of gun battle that ensued, the insurgents who were in large number overwhelmed the soldiers. It’s by God grace that I survived.”
Meanwhile the residents of Okuama community in Delta have continued living in the forest as the Army hunt the killers.

Vanguard’s reports say Okuama residents have been told it is not time to return home.

The publication on Saturday shared exclusive photos showing Okuama residents suffering in the forest they fled into.

It was gathered that some of them, especially the children are dying of starvation. They are also battling with snake bites and cold.

The CDS, who spoke about the aftermath of the incident and the continuous military action in Okuama, revealed that Okuama residents are ritualists, suspecting that the body parts of the slain soldiers were dismembered for ritual purposes.
