Anyanwu is the Authentic National Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

A pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the South West Stakeholders Forum, has reaffirmed its support for Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s legitimate National Secretary.

The group cited the recent Supreme Court ruling on the party’s national secretary position as the basis for its stance, dismissing claims of ambiguity in the judgment.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the forum’s coordinator, Alhaji Kola Ajayi, accused some individuals of misinterpreting the court’s decision for personal gain. He emphasized that the group does not recognize any other person occupying the office.

“As members of the South West Stakeholders Forum committed to the progress of our great party, we are deeply concerned about the recent developments regarding the position of the National Secretary,” Ajayi stated.

“We maintain that there is no crisis because Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the authentic National Secretary. Any other person claiming that title is an impostor.”

The forum argued that the Supreme Court’s ruling had vindicated Anyanwu’s position and criticized the party’s leadership for failing to enforce the judgment decisively.

“The Supreme Court’s judgment is clear, yet some biased minds are twisting it for selfish reasons. We reject any acting capacity arrangement involving Hon. Sunday Ude Okoye or Arc. Setonji Koshedo,” the statement read.

The group urged the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) to maintain the status quo by allowing Anyanwu to complete his tenure, warning against actions that could deepen internal divisions.

“With the national convention approaching, we appeal to the party leadership to avoid escalating tensions. Let the status quo remain while efforts are made to resolve disputes at both the national and state levels,” Ajayi added.

Expressing optimism, the forum stated its belief that the PDP would emerge stronger after the convention and be well-positioned for the 2027 general elections.
