Atiku’s political future looks bleak – S.A Bayo Onanuga

Bayo Onanuga, a Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy on Thursday said that the political future of Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is bleak.

Onanuga said this in a response to an X post made by Tunde Rahman, another aide to the president over the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Rahman had opined that things were getting perilous with the coalition plan orchestrated by Atiku and his cohorts.

According to Rahman, the PDP governors have also washed their hands off the coalition plan of Atiku and Nasir El-Rufai.

“Today, he got his biggest shocker ever. His 2023 election running mate, former Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and Okowa’s successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, dumped the sinking PDP ship and hopped aboard the APC plane, and by inference, crossed over to the PBAT side. Indeed, the counting of PDP Governors crossing over to APC has begun,” Rahman wrote.

Further querying the viability of the planned political coalition, he said that the end of a matter could be perceived from events piling up from the beginning.

To this, Onanuga quoted the post saying, “Atiku’s political future looks bleak. The coalition that he, El Rufai, Babachir, and new member Baba-Ahmed are cobbling together has disintegrated.

“Potential allies, including former running mate Ifeanyi Okowa and defunct CPC members, are giving his leprous group a wide berth. Atiku is a loser again,” Onabuga wrote.
