“I almost got hit several times coming out of my driveway from somebody coming from that way,” he said
“Speeding.”
“Yes, I went in those folk’s yard,” he said.
Bradley is one of nearly 150 Fairington residents who signed a petition to get speed humps in the neighborhood.
Augusta Traffic Engineering recommending 12 devices at a cost of $54,000.
“Normally we would not have put that many in, but it did require 12 if you base it on the policy and the spacing on the policy, that’s what we decided to do,” said Augusta Traffic Engineer John Ussery.
Commissioners budgeted $140k for speed humps this year or $14,000 per commission district, but Fairington is getting $54,000 worth.
“I want to be able to use whatever funding I have in District 3 for speed humps. I don’t recall having 12 speed humps,” said Commissioner Catherine Smith McKnight.
But traffic engineers say Fairington is getting money that commissioners approved last year.
“We used up what was remaining in 2023 to pay for the Fairington speed bump,” said Ussery.
But neighbors are more concerned with when, than how.
“You got kids getting on the buses and all this other stuff it’s dangerous,” said Bradley.
