Bode George slams Tinubu for France trip amid insecurity, hunger crisis

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for travelling to France while Nigeria grapples with escalating security challenges.

Tinubu departed Nigeria for France on Wednesday and is expected to be away for approximately two weeks.

In a statement titled “Whither Nigeria, My Beloved Country”, which he personally signed on Wednesday, George questioned the rationale behind the President’s trip, stating that only Tinubu and his handlers knew the true purpose of the visit.

George expressed deep concern over the state of affairs in the country, alleging that those in power have ignored sound reasoning and continue to implement policies that threaten national unity.

He warned that Nigeria is precariously treading a path of self-destruction, comparing the current administration’s missteps to historical precedents that led to the collapse of the First and Second Republics.

“This was exactly what happened from the mid-1930s to the early 1940s when Adolf Hitler in Germany, Benito Mussolini in Italy, and militarists in Japan held the world in a stranglehold. It was almost too late before Americans, Britons, and others intervened to save the world,” George stated.

The PDP chieftain lamented that despite ongoing crises, including insecurity, hunger, and widespread unemployment, Tinubu opted to travel to Paris for undisclosed reasons.
