Borno Police Constable Returns ₦2.6m Mistakenly Transferred to His Account

A police constable serving in Borno State, Mohammed Alhaji Muhammad, has returned ₦2.6 million that was mistakenly transferred into his bank account. The officer said his action was motivated by a desire to counter negative public perceptions about the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the command’s spokesperson, the constable reported the error to his bank the day after receiving the alert, leading to the funds being traced and returned to the owner in Sokoto State. The Borno State Commissioner of Police commended the officer for his integrity and discipline.
