BREAKING NEWS: Angry Youths in the FCT Burn Cars and Damage Police Posts

The incident developed as a result irritation of the angry youngsters who turned to violence, vandalizing the police post and burning ablaze automobiles parked nearby.

The alleged murder of Amos Meshak over a disagreement over a phone charger set off the riots.

The scene quickly turned worst as clashes began between the mob and law enforcement officers attempting to restore order.

According to reports, Meshak was fatally stabbed by his friend, Madgit Maren, during a heated argument over a phone charger in Jabi.

Despite efforts by a police officer to intervene and transport Meshak to the hospital, he passes away.

Following Meshak’s death, his family, fueled by grief and anger, mobilized a group of youths to demand justice.

They stormed the Jabi-Dakibiyu police post, where Madgit had been detained, insisting on his release.

Despite reassurances from the authorities that Madgit was still in custody and undergoing investigation, the protesters remained unsatisfied.

A source close to the situation revealed that the violence came from the belief among the youths that the police had released Madgit, the alleged perpetrator.

SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT police command, clarified that Madgit remained in custody and said that investigations were ongoing.

“The fact on the situation at Dakin Biu outpost is that on 05/02/24 at about 6pm, some youths stormed the police outpost, requesting for the release of a suspect namely Amos Madgit Maren to them. The angry youths wanted a suspect who had earlier stabbed one Amos Meshak, who is now deceased. The situation was put under control and the suspect is still in custody.
