The unfortunate event occurred on Sunday at approximately 6:05 pm, resulting in the death of a Second Lieutenant identified as OC Ukachuckwu.
According to military sources, Corporal James Kingsley, attached to Team 3 for Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD), opened fire on 2nd Lieutenant Ukachuckwu, causing his tragic demise.
Subsequently, other soldiers present at the scene swiftly intervened, fatally shooting Corporal Kingsley.
The incident, detailed in a military signal obtained by SaharaReporters, described the chaotic situation where Corporal Kingsley went on a shooting spree, targeting both his senior officer and other personnel present at the Forward Operational Base.
The injured soldiers are reportedly in stable condition and receiving medical attention.
The military signal, signed by Major MD Mikaailu, stated, “While on stand-to period 03NA/53/1572, CPL James Kingsley from 26BN attached to Team 3 for OPHD fired 2LT OC Ukachukwu at Tango 2 FOB Magami.
