Englishman Herdman guided the North American team to only their second ever World Cup finals at Qatar 2022, where they were knocked out at the group stage despite some spirited performances.

While one of the greatest players of his generation, Lampard’s managerial career has yet to take off after mixed to poor spells at Derby County, Chelsea and Everton.

He guided the Rams to the Championship play-off final in 2019 before returning to west London where he did well to qualify for the Champions League and reach the FA Cup final despite the Blues being under a transfer ban.

A poor start to the following season saw him sacked and replaced by Thomas Tuchel, before he took charge of Everton in 2022, saving the club from relegation from the Premier League.

He started the following season in terrible form however and was sacked by the Toffees almost exactly a year after he was hired but made a surprise return to Stamford Bridge a few months later with his former side in crisis.

That decision by Todd Boehly backfired spectacularly, with Lampard winning just one and losing eight of 11 games as Chelsea finished 12th in the table.

Should he be offered the job, he’ll have the chance to manage what some have dubbed Canada’s ‘Golden Generation’ which contains high-profile stars like Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and Lille forward Jonathan David.
