Palmer, who spent 15 years at City before joining Chelsea in a £40 million deadline day move, had the last word to make it 4-4 in stoppage time with an ice cold penalty past Ederson.

The champions went ahead through an Erling Haaland penalty after Marc Cucurella grabbed him inside the area but found themselves 2-1 down courtesy of goals from Thiago Silva and Raheem Sterling.

Manuel Akanji levelled matters on the stroke of half-time before Haaland bagged his second two minutes after the break.

Nicolas Jackson equalised in the 67th minute but Rodri smashed in what looked like the winning goal with help from Thiago Silva’s lazy leg,

However it was Palmer who had the final say to earn Chelsea a point after Ruben Dias took out substitute Armando Broja late on.

The England Under 21 international had an eventful and impressive game against City and was booked in the first half for trying to scuff the penalty spot like Alejandro Garnacho did for Manchester United.

But he also attempted some further mind games late on in the game. City had a free-kick in a dangerous position, with a number of players gathering around to discuss what the routine would be.

Palmer cheekily stood right in the middle of the chat to try and get some secrets, only for Haaland to appear and shove him away in a hilarious moment.

City skipper Kyle Walker blasted the free-kick over the bar.

Palmer has already managed more minutes at Chelsea than he did in his time at City and quickly emerged as one of the team’s most important players under Mauricio Pochettino.

He’s been Chelsea’s main playmaker and scored his fourth penalty of the season on Sunday.

And Jamie Carragher has hailed his decision to move on from City for pastures new in the summer not long after he scored in both the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup for City.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “He’ll feel his body of work here, if he continues the way he’s going, is a lot better than what he’s done at Manchester City and the medals he might have won.

“It’s nonsense to me, to be honest “Everyone plays a part, but you all know when you’ve played a major part in a team’s success.

“He’s a major part now in this Chelsea team and he almost feels like the main man.”....CONTINUE.FULL.READING>>>
