Manchester United is contemplating bringing David De Gea back on a short-term contract, UK Sun reports.
After the expiration of his contract, De Gea departed Old Trafford less than six months ago.
De Gea has not featured for any other club since leaving Manchester United.
During his twelve-year tenure with the Red Devils, the Spaniard made 545 appearances and was a revered figure within the locker room.
It is believed that some United players disapproved of how the goalkeeper was treated.
Now, the Premier League club is contemplating re-signing the free agent because they are concerned about the absence of cover when Cameroon’s Andre Onana attends the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
The other two senior goalkeepers for United are Tom Heaton and Altay Bayindir, but neither has appeared this season.
