Speaking on Hard Facts, a program aired on n 95.1 Fm Nigerian Info in Abuja,

Jide said:
“If the President suspects that the contents could embarrass him, he could seek for stay of execution.

“When this is done, the FBI and DEA would suspend the release as ordered by the court.

“As a matter of fact, there’s no statute bar to crime. That this matter has lingered for a long time doesn’t mean it has been thrashed. Until the President faces his fears and deal with the issues once and for all, he will continue to be hunted by the issues.

“If I were the President, I won’t bother to stop the FBI and DEA from complying with the Court ruling. If he is given a clean bill of health, his shoulders would be held high forever. If he is indicted, it becomes a dent in his political carrier. Even now, it is a dent. Reason I think he should face it all .

“As a President, he still has immunity. He will not be prosecuted in Nigeria . America could even grant him immunity. A sitting President will always be respected. We have been told too that his lawyers are examining the papers . Do they want to appeal or seeking for stay of execution? These options are all opened for the President. If he’s innocent as we have been told over and over again, then the president needs not worry. He should just endorse the release of the reports. We are watching” Mr. Jide said.

The Presidency says there’s no new revelation by the FBI. Bayo Onanuga says It is the same things that the public already know. He dismissed it as dirty politics of the opposition.

Reacting to the court ruling, one of the President’s lawyers during the 2023 electoral litigation, Babatunde Ogala (SAN) said there’s no restriction on the President’s trip to the United States. “The President has traveled to the United States several times since 1994” he said.

The ruling of a US court to release the findings of the FBI and the DEA has remained on the front burner. If the Presidency says no cause for alarm, should Nigeria remained alarmed? Everyone is watching and waiting anxiously.
