How Wike Frustrated Peter Obi Out Of PDP -Paul Ibe Reveals

The spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Paul Ibe has revealed that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, played a significant role in Peter Obi’s departure from the party. According to Ibe, Atiku had intended to zone the 2023 presidential ticket to the Southeast, but Wike worked against it, leading to Obi’s exit.

In an interview on Seun Okinbaloye’s Mic On podcast, Ibe clarified that Atiku did not force Obi out of the party, but rather Wike’s actions led to his departure. Ibe stated, “Atiku Abubakar had said that he was prepared to get himself off the ticket if the party zoned the ticket to the Southeast. Wike frustrated that effort because he believed that if it was zoned to the south, not the southeast, he would be in the best position to get the ticket.”

According to a report by Daily Post, Obi, who was the PDP’s vice presidential candidate in 2019, defected to the Labour Party (LP) ahead of the 2023 presidential election and gained significant support, securing over six million votes.
