Some terrorists suspected to be members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) have destroyed the Mandafuma Bridge in Biu, Borno State.

Zagazola Makama, a security analyst disclosed that the terrorists attacked the bridge located on the Biu-Damboa road, at about 2:20 am on Tuesday, April 15.

In a photo post shared on X, Makama said the group destroyed the bridge using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

According to the analyst, the attack by the group is aimed at disrupting passengers’ movement along the popular Biu-Damboa Road.

He wrote in the post’s caption,” Terrorists suspected to be affiliated with ISWAP detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Mandafuma Bridge, located along the Biu-Damboa road, at approximately 2:20 AM on Tuesday.

“The explosion completely destroyed the bridge, severing the link between Mandafuma Village and Biu Town.

“This act of terrorism was aimed at disrupting movement along the route, impeding access for both motorists and passengers. It also serves to hinder military reinforcements travelling through the area,” Makama wrote.
