Benue killings: 3 suspected herdsmen arrested

The governor of Benue State Hyacinth Alia, on Wednesday, April 16, announced that three suspected herdsmen have been arrested in connection to the attack and killing of 11 people in Otobi community in Otupko Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking to journalists during a press briefing at the Government House in Makurdi, the governor called on security agencies to ensure a total crackdown on perpetrators of the act.

He said Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser has also promised to ensure that more security assets are deployed to the state to stem these attacks.

Alia said the state has deployed security personnel to the areas that were attacked.

In addition, a member of the Benue State House of Assembly, Kennedy Angbo said nine bodies of victims of the attack have been recovered.

Angbo who represents the Otukpo-Akpa constituency said the bodies were recovered on Tuesday night; another one in a hard-to-reach area in the community and another one by dawn on Wednesday bringing the total of casualties to 11.
