Jose Mourinho has already made himself available for a third stint as Chelsea head coach. Chelsea have now slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League table, with any hope of securing Champions League, or even Europa League, now a distant memory. The home faithful at Stamford Bridge have appeared to turn against Pochettino, as well as the club’s ownership and a few players, after Raheem Sterling was booed and Roman Abramovich chants were heard at Stamford Bridge.
Despite calls for the former Tottenham boss to be sacked, he has 18 months remaining on his contract in west London, plus an option for a further year. For now, it remains to be seen whether or not Pochettino has a long-term future at Chelsea – but that hasn’t stopped sections of the fanbase from dreaming of Mourinho’s return.
Speaking previously to Sky Sports, the Portuguese tactician referenced the Blues as his club. Mourinho said: “If you ask me do I have somebody that I would love to take over from ‘my Chelsea’ let’s say that, yes, but I have but I close my mouth.
“The club reached such a level that it doesn’t matter who it’s with but Chelsea will always be Chelsea. Chelsea will always be big and my house will always be 200 metres away from the stadium so I want to keep listening to the sound of happiness and success. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be like that.”
Mourinho has also described his time at Stamford Bridge as the best of his career in England despite stints at Manchester United and Tottenham. The 61-Year-old said: “Of course, my English connection is Chelsea. That’s the way I see things, as a Chelsea man after two periods of Chelsea and six years.”
Mourinho is currently without a job at the moment after he was sacked by Roma last month. Despite reigniting the Stadio Olimpico into a cauldron of passion and winning the Europa Conference League, the Italian giants’ poor results in Serie A led to his dismissal.
Even after his sacking, Roma fans continued to show their support for the former Chelsea boss. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, countless posters of Mourinho kissing the ECL trophy along with the message ‘Thank you Mister’ appeared in the streets of Rome.
Then, in the early hours of the morning following his dismissal, a banner appeared on Via Laurentina – the road that leads to Roma’s Trigoria training ground. It read: “Ghost club, players without balls. Honour to you Jose Mourinho.”….CONTINUE.FULL.READING>>>
