‘Practice of democracy in Nigeria must work for every citizen’ – Orji Kalu says as Senate approves electronic transmission of results

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu says democracy must work for every Nigerian, as the Senate approved the electronic transmission of election results directly from polling units.

The Abia North Senator made this known in a statement following Tuesday’s emergency plenary.

Recall that on Tuesday, February 10, the red chamber had amended Section 60 of the Electoral Act to allow presiding officers at polling units to electronically transmit election results to the Results Viewing Portal (IREV) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said, “Today at the emergency plenary, I supported and added my voice to the Senate’s new position approving the electronic transmission of election results from polling units across Nigeria.
