President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi, have returned to Abuja after attending the 38th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The couple departed Ethiopia’s Bole Addis Ababa International Airport at 4:00 p.m. local time, where they were bid farewell by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

During their departure, President Tinubu was honoured with a brief ceremony, complete with military honours, at the airport.

The 38th Ordinary Summit of the African Heads of State and Government was a pivotal event that saw the emergence of President Joao Lourenço of Angola as the new African Union chairperson. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf from Djibouti was also elected as the chairperson of the commission.

One of the key outcomes of the summit was the launch of a new theme for the year: “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations.” The theme is set to guide the process of seeking redress for historical injustices inflicted upon Africa and its people.

President Bola Tinubu had departed Abuja on 5th February for Paris, France, on a private visit en route to Addis Ababa.
