‘President Tinubu has assured me of my position’ – Ganduje speaks after suspension reportsThe National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje says he has the backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following reports he has been removed from his position in the ruling party.
Recall some members of the APC at his ward reportedly suspended him over alleged financial crimes following allegations by the Kano State Anti-Corruption agency.
The rumors were met with disdain by the hierarchy of the party at the national level while the spokesman of the APC, Felix Morka described the move as criminal and insisted that Ganduje remains the party’s chairman.
He added that those behind that suspension are not card-carrying members of APC in the Ward but are individuals affiliated with senior officials and representatives of the New Nigeria People Party.
Felix said: “We urge our Party faithful and the general public to disregard reports of the suspension of the National Chairman who is and remains, the National Chairman of our great Party.
“This act procured by officials of the ruling NNPP in Kano is part of the despicable program of political persecution launched by the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf against Dr. Ganduje, a former Governor of Kano state.
Ganduje indicated that he remains the leader of the party despite the reports.
“I met with the President, and he told me that my position as APC Chairman, which the Kano State Government was trying to remove me from, will remain unchanged. He reaffirmed my position as APC National Chairman,” Umar Ganduje said in Hausa in a video that has gone viral.
