The Blues were on the verge of a rare win against their London rivals with Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk on target. The Blues had that two-goal lead until the 77th minute when Declan Rice capitlised on a Robert Sanchez mistake.

Substitute Leandro Trossard netted the equaliser seven minutes later to maintain the north Londoners’ unbeaten start in the Premier League. Despite failing to see out the victory, the display was another step in the right direction under Mauricio Pochettino.

Here’s the latest headlines from football.london on Monday, October 23.
Sterling breaks silence

Chelsea attacking duo Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling were involved in a minor disagreement during the Blues’ 2-2 Premier League draw with Arsenal.

Sterling had originally claimed the ball for the Blues’ penalty after William Saliba was penalised for handball. However, the England international was forced to hand the opportunity to Cole Palmer after Enzo Fernandez’s say so.

Following the game, Sterling posted a series of images from the entertaining London derby on Instagram. He wrote: “Deserved more. We move on to the next one.”

Palmer, who denied Sterling the opportunity to score his first goal since the 3-0 win over Luton, replied to the post in the perfect way with a blue heart. Any concern that there was any bad feeling between the pair was quickly put to bed when Sterling posted an image on his story with Palmer tagged.
January transfer demand made

If Chelsea were to take anything away from Saturday’s draw with Arsenal it was Pochettino’s said are more than capable of competing with the Premier League’s best.

Chelsea supporters took to Reddit after the game with mixed reactions. Some were delighted and proud that their team were able to go toe-to-toe with a potential title challenger in Arsenal, while others were disappointed the Blues did not come out of the match with all three points after boasting a two-goal lead.

One user said: “If we have to choose positives, Cucurella was very good, might be the performance that eventually propels him to be our first choice left-back. The rest of the defence had a great game too, except for Gusto losing his man.

“Our midfield bossed theirs. Mudryk had a stunning goal, Sterling was very threatening, Palmer was excellent. We’re a top striker and goalkeeper away from competing from things.”
Sanchez slammed for error

Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has slammed goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for his mistake in Chelsea’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Arsenal.

The Spaniard was at fault for the Gunners’ first goal when his poor pass fell to Rice with the England midfielder curling the ball into the empty net to halve the deficit. The Chelsea goalkeeper was then lucky not to concede a penalty when he clattered into Gabriel Jesus.

Speaking on the BBC programme, the former Newcastle United man said: “They should have (a penalty). There’s no doubt about it.

“Sanchez has just come out and he wipes him out, Jesus. What’s key for me is that he catches him in the head. Look, he goes right through him here. It’s a terrible challenge.

“How on earth can the VAR not think that’s a penalty and the referee? He is nowhere near the ball.”

Shearer was also critical of Sanchez’s error that led to Rice’s goal. He said: “They had to rely on a mistake from Sanchez. I mean, what on earth is he doing there? I haven’t got a clue. Just clear it and get rid of it.”..…CONTINUE.FULL.READING>>>
