See the speed of approval – NLC reacts as Senate approves 300% salary increase for CJN, judicial office holders

The call was made on the official X-handle of the NLC.

“See the speed of approval, Why not use the same speed for Nigeria Workers? The last minimum wage Act has expired since April. #WE DEMAND A LIVING WAGE NOW!” the labour union wrote.

The Senate approved a bill that sought to improve the salaries, allowances, and fringe benefits of the Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, and other judicial office holders in Nigeria by 300 percent.

The bill passed its third reading on Wednesday, June 5.

The approval followed the adoption of a report by the Chairman Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters, Mohammed Monguno.

The lawmaker said, “Adequate remuneration will allow judicial officers to focus on their professional development without worrying about financial constraint.

“Hence, it will improve their professionalism and decision making skills, and fair compensation for judicial officers is crucial for maintaining public trust in judiciary’s impartiality and integrity.”…Continue The Full Reading.>’.
