Tafida stated in an interview with Daily Trust TV that he informed Yar’Adua that he would accept anything as long as it came with respect because he was confident the late President would not offer him anything inferior. He reiterated his belief that Yar’Adua was sincere, saying that their good rapport gave him hope that any offer wouldn’t just be an effort to keep him quiet. He revealed this information and gave a description of it when discussing his nomination as an ambassador under Yar’Adua.
In Tafida’s words: “Yar’Adua said he wanted to give me something but did not know if I would accept it or not. I said If it is from him I will accept it because I know he would not give me anything just because he wants to shut my mouth up.
