Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk may have picked up an injury over the international break in action with Ukraine

Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk could be a doubt to face Arsenal next weekend in the Premier League after appearing to be subbed off for Ukraine with an injury. The 22-year-old started his country’s crucial European championship qualifier against North Macedonia before he was withdrawn just a few minutes before the final whistle.

Ukraine went in front just before half-time through Georgiy Sudakov, a player Mudryk has already said would be a great signing for Chelsea, with Oleksandr Karavayev making sure of the victory by doubling their advantage in added time.

As he has done for much of the season thus far at Chelsea, Mudryk showed flashes of brilliance during the game with one sharp turn and burst of pace akin to Eden Hazard during his prime years in west London.

While that piece of skill was superb, it was unfortunately not the main talking point regarding Mudryk coming out of the game. That is because in the 80th minute, Mudryk went down with a slight issue before receiving some treatment from the Ukraine physios before he was taken off a few minutes later.

Whether the decision was tactical or injury-related is unknown as the Uefa cameras missed Mudryk being taken off so there was no clear indication if he was hobbling. The 22-year-old has already been dealt two minor injury setbacks this season with the latest coming just moments after his first Chelsea goal.

Mauricio Pochettino chose to start Mudryk for the fourth consecutive game against Fulham in September and he repaid his manager’s faith by giving Chelsea the lead in the first half.

However, he did not come back out for the second 45 with Pochettino confirming after the game he felt something in his quad and despite recovering the following week, The Chelsea boss revealed it was too much of a risk for him to make a fifth consecutive start against Burnley as he had to settle for a cameo off the bench.

While it was very easy to get an immediate update on his status after the shock half time substitution against Fulham, there is significant uncertainty surrounding his latest possible issue.

However, he has posted on Instagram in the wake of the game with an image of himself in action on Saturday with a caption in Ukrainian, however it does clearly reference the 2-0 victory with a hands raised emoji also included.

For a definitive answer on his status, Chelsea supporters will likely have to wait until Tuesday, October 17 when Ukraine are back in action in another must-win qualifier against Malta. Mudryk’s side close out their qualification campaign with a clash against Italy on Monday, November 20.…CONTINUE.FULL.READING>>>
