No Injuries as Arik Air Flight Makes Safe Diversion Following Engine Anomaly

An Arik Air Boeing 737-7GL aircraft operating a scheduled domestic flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt experienced an in-flight engine anomaly on Wednesday but diverted safely to Benin Airport. According to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the flight crew detected abnormal indications on one engine during cruise and conducted a precautionary shutdown before diverting to the nearest suitable airport.

The aircraft landed without incident, and all passengers and crew disembarked unharmed. The NSIB stated that preliminary visual assessment indicates significant damage to the affected engine.
