According to Legit, the veteran Swedish manager is reported to have agreed on a one-year deal with the NFF leadership.

Andersson led the Swedish national team from 2016 to 2024, guiding them to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2020 European Championship. He, however, stepped down after failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Euro tournament.

Data from FotMob shows that the veteran coach has a win percentage of 51.7% during his tenure with the Blue and Yellow.

An official announcement is expected soon, and Coach Andersson should be on the sidelines when the Super Eagles face both the Republic of Benin and Rwanda in their upcoming matches.

Several coaches have been linked to the team after the departure of Finidi George with French coach Hervé Renard largely tipped to take over the role.
